Jarius Pratt Obituary – Slidell Police reported that Eric Gonzalez, aged 36, was taken into custody for vehicular homicide, driving while impaired, and careless operation of a motor vehicle after a tragic accident that claimed the life of a pedestrian on Friday afternoon.
The victim, identified as Jarius Pratt, aged 42, was hit by Gonzalez’s red 2005 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck while walking along Gause Boulevard. Despite receiving emergency treatment at a hospital, Pratt succumbed to his injuries. The authorities stated that there was evidence indicating that Gonzalez was driving under the influence, although specific details were not disclosed. Toxicology results for both the driver and the victim are still pending.
The incident occurred around 3:30 p.m., with Pratt being found injured on the road and Gonzalez’s truck sustaining significant damage in a nearby ditch. A relative of the deceased expressed their grief on social media, emphasizing the proximity of the accident to Pratt’s residence as “unacceptable” and “unimaginable.”
