Jaquante Montgomery Obituary, Death; – Sumter County Coroner Robbie Baker has disclosed the identity of the individual who was fatally shot at a Walmart in Sumter.
The victim has been identified as 24-year-old Jaquante Montgomery, a resident of Sumter. The coroner’s office indicated that Montgomery sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
On Friday, law enforcement apprehended the alleged shooter, 19-year-old Chanceler Lowery, after he was reported to the authorities by his parents, as stated by Sumter Police Chief Russell F. Roark III.
Reports from the police indicate that Montgomery was shot multiple times on Friday within the Walmart Supercenter located at 1283 Broad Street. He was subsequently transported to Prisma Health Toumey, where he succumbed to his injuries, according to the Sumter County Coroner’s Office.
Chief Roark noted that investigators suspect a confrontation occurred between the two individuals, who had a history of conflict prior to the shooting. Coroner Baker announced that an autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday, February 18th, at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.
