Jamin David Elkins Obituary, Death; – A man who discharged a firearm at law enforcement officers during a domestic dispute was shot and killed by police in eastern Alabama, according to authorities.
Rainbow City police reported in a news release that the incident occurred on Wednesday. Officers were dispatched in response to a call regarding a domestic situation that escalated into what was described as a “hostage situation.”
“The individual fired shots at the officers present, leading to an officer-involved shooting,” the department stated in a message shared on Facebook. Officers returned fire, resulting in the death of the man.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency is conducting a review of the shooting at the request of the police department. The agency indicated that the results of the investigation will be submitted to the Etowah County district attorney’s office.
On Thursday, the state agency identified the deceased individual as Jamin David Elkins, 46, from Mount Dora, Florida, located 30 miles northwest of Orlando
