James Zandstra Obituary, Death – We announce the loss of Mr. James J. Zandstra, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, with sorrowful hearts. He left this world in peace on Friday, March 24, 2006, to be with his cherished wife Jean D. Zandstra, who passed away before him. His loving children, Robert (Sheryl) Zandstra, Judy (Mike) Hardy, and Marcia (Robert) Sterkenburg, are left to treasure his memory.
In addition, James leaves a legacy of twelve great-grandchildren and seven grandchildren, all of whom will always remember him. His sisters Jean (John) Slagter and Marlene (Frank) Waters, brother-in-law Bob Isenga, sister-in-law Carol Zandstra, and brother Larry (Mary) Zandstra all survive him. James was a devoted member of American Legion Post 381, Hump Pilots, and CBI.
He was a patriotic World War II veteran. His bravery and steadfast devotion were demonstrated by his service to his country. James’s life will be honored with funeral services on Friday, March 31, at 11:00 a.m. at the Ronan-Vanderpool-Stegenga Funeral Chapel, 3131 S. Division Ave. Tom Bos, a pastor, will lead the service.
On Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., the family will be open to receive friends and family who would like to offer their respects. The beautiful Rosedale Memorial Park will be James’ last resting place, where he will be buried next to his faithful wife, Jean. The family respectfully begs that memorial contributions be sent to
Hospice of Michigan or the Association for the Blind in place of flowers, as James had a particular affinity for both organizations.
