James Allina Obituary, Death; – Authorities have publicly named a couple from La Mesa who tragically lost their lives in a multi-vehicle nighttime traffic collision on I-8 near the Grossmont Center mall earlier this week.
James Allina, aged 79, and his 77-year-old spouse, Rosalyn, were inside their stationary sedan with the lights turned off just prior to 7:30 p.m. on Monday when another vehicle collided with their apparently disabled car on the eastbound side of the freeway, west of Fletcher Parkway in La Mesa, as reported by the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Following the initial collision, another vehicle impacted the SUV, causing the Allinas’ sedan to be propelled across the traffic lanes, according to the agency’s report. James Allina was pronounced dead at the scene, despite the attempts of witnesses and paramedics to revive him and his wife. Rosalyn Allina was transported by ambulance to Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego, where she was later declared deceased.
The reason for the couple’s vehicle being stationary on the freeway remains unclear, as noted by the medical examiner.
