Jamal Mitchell Death – The Minneapolis Police Department confirmed that Officer Jamal Mitchell, a father and soon-to-be groom, tragically lost his life while responding to a shooting incident and administering aid to a man. The fallen officer was honored by his colleagues outside Hennepin County Medical Center, where he was declared deceased.
Authorities assured the public that there was no immediate threat, but advised individuals to avoid the area near the Minneapolis apartment complex in Whittier. Additionally, a second officer and a firefighter sustained injuries during the incident. Police reported that two individuals, including the alleged shooter, were also deceased at the scene.
Mayor Melvin Carter of St. Paul announced that support from his city, including law enforcement and emergency personnel, was being dispatched to Minneapolis. This assistance included officers assisting with security at the NBA playoff game between the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Dallas Mavericks on Thursday evening.
