Jalin Seabron Obituary, Death; – The family of the individual fatally shot by a Douglas County sheriff’s deputy outside the Main Event in Highlands Ranch, while the deputy was responding to an unrelated shooting incident, has requested the release of video footage pertaining to the incident.
On Sunday, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office announced that the public defender for Neveaha Crawley-Sanders, the woman involved in the separate shooting, had submitted a notice of intent to object to the release of this video and other audio recordings. Crawley-Sanders faces charges in Douglas County for allegedly shooting another woman in the restroom of the entertainment venue on February 8.
According to the sheriff’s office, the first deputy on the scene observed a man, later identified as 23-year-old Jalin Seabron from Arapahoe County, outside the Main Event brandishing a firearm. The deputy discharged his weapon after Seabron allegedly turned towards him and failed to comply with commands to drop the gun.
The sheriff’s office expressed its intention to release the footage, asserting that it demonstrates the deputy acted to safeguard himself and others from significant and immediate danger when he shot Seabron. However, an attorney representing Seabron’s family contends that the video does not corroborate the sheriff’s assertions regarding the justification and reasonableness of the shooting.
The sheriff’s office has altered its account of the events several times over the past week. The footage, which has been reviewed by Mr. Seabron’s mother and attorney Tyrone Glover, reportedly does not substantiate the sheriff’s claims that the shooting was justified. According to their observations, there is insufficient evidence to indicate that Mr. Seabron aimed a weapon at anyone, turned to face the officers, or disobeyed commands prior to being shot.
In a statement released on Sunday, the sheriff’s office indicated that investigators had concluded Seabron was connected to the shooting and acted as an accessory to Crawley-Sanders. However, Seabron’s family attorney has firmly rejected this assertion. The statement from Tyrone Glover Law emphasized that Seabron’s family categorically disputes this characterization.
