Jalea Turner Obituary, Death; – The Erie County Coroner has confirmed the identity of the individual who was fatally shot on New Year’s Day in the City of Erie, an incident that also resulted in injuries to another person.
Coroner Lyell Cook reported that the victim, 20-year-old Jalea Turner from Erie, succumbed to a gunshot wound to the head following an autopsy conducted on Saturday. Turner was present at a New Year’s Eve gathering in the 900 block of West 19th Street when the shooting took place shortly after midnight, and she was pronounced brain dead on the afternoon of January 1.
Another individual sustained a gunshot wound to the leg during the event but has since been treated and released. Authorities have not made any arrests, and the investigation is ongoing.
