Jakquan Kimbro Obituary – The second individual who was tragically killed in a shooting incident that occurred at a local park during a vigil for another shooting victim earlier this month has now been identified. The victim has been identified as Jakquan Kimbro, an 18-year-old. The shooting took place at 9:54 p.m. on June 3 in the 800 block of Alton Avenue, near Krumm Park on the East Side. Lonnie Johnston, 29, was previously identified as the other victim by the Columbus Division of Police.
Both Kimbro and Johnston were present at the park to pay their respects during a vigil for Da’Mya Cummerlander, an 18-year-old who was fatally shot earlier that morning on the Northeast Side. Numerous individuals called 911 to report shots being fired at the park that night.
Medical professionals declared Johnston and Kimbro deceased at 10:07 p.m.
It has not been confirmed by the police whether Johnston and Kimbro were actively participating in the vigil or if they were simply present at the park during the event.
Two suspects, Tyrez Turner, 18, and Ladavia Fortner, 31, have been arrested on murder charges related to the shooting of Kimbro and Johnston. Turner was apprehended on June 13. Prior to the identification of the suspects, authorities stated that they believed the suspects had retaliated by returning fire after being fired upon.
