Jaime Hernandez Obituary, Death;- At approximately 3:30 p.m. on January 5, 2025, Louisiana State Police Troop A responded to a single-vehicle accident on LA 965, located east of US 61 in West Feliciana Parish. The incident resulted in the tragic death of 50-year-old Jaime Hernandez from Zachary.
Initial investigations indicate that Hernandez was operating a 2014 Jeep Wrangler while traveling eastbound on LA 965. For reasons that are still being examined, a falling tree impacted the vehicle, leading Hernandez to veer off the road to the left and collide with several other trees.
Hernandez was not wearing a seatbelt, suffered severe injuries, and was pronounced dead at the scene. The possibility of impairment is currently undetermined; however, a standard toxicology test will be conducted and analyzed. Adverse weather conditions may have contributed to the incident, which is still under investigation.
Troopers would like to remind drivers to make responsible choices while operating a vehicle. It is crucial to avoid driving under the influence, when fatigued, or while distracted; adhere to all traffic regulations, and ensure that all passengers are securely restrained. Although not all accidents are survivable, implementing these basic safety measures can significantly impact the outcome.
