Jacob Kennedy,Christopher Hart Obituary, Death; – A warrant has disclosed new information regarding how the Durham police identified a suspect in a shooting incident through video footage from a GoDurham bus.
The victim, Christopher Hart, was fatally shot at approximately 9:20 a.m. According to the warrant, the suspect allegedly killed Hart in retaliation for a shooting that occurred just hours prior.
Furthermore, a stolen firearm discovered near the victim has been linked to another homicide. Screenshots from the GoDurham bus video depict a man, identified by police as Raymond Dixon, approaching Christopher Hart on Holloway Street shortly after 9 a.m. on November 12.
The footage reveals the suspect sitting beside Hart, shooting him in the side, and subsequently fleeing the scene. Upon the police’s arrival, 31-year-old Hart was declared dead, and a Taurus G3X firearm was located nearby.
Authorities traced the gun through the National Crime Information Center, confirming its stolen status and linking it to a homicide that occurred earlier in the month. The deceased, 36-year-old Jacob Kennedy, was found shot days later on Brye Street.
The firearm’s additional connection suggests a potential motive for Hart’s murder, as it was involved in an aggravated assault two hours before, during which surveillance footage captured Hart shooting Daniel Bailey. In a police interview, Raymond Dixon stated that Bailey is his friend. A tipster from Crimestoppers indicated that Hart’s murder was an act of retaliation.
Dixon was apprehended hours after the shooting on unrelated drug charges. He subsequently posted a $5,000 bond, and law enforcement is now seeking public assistance in locating him for a murder charge.
