In southeast British Columbia, a single car collision claimed the lives of three occupants and wounded the driver. It took place Tuesday night in Wilmer, a village north of Invermere, according to the RCMP. According to authorities, it ran off the road and crashed down an embankment. The driver was taken to the hospital with significant but non-life-threatening injuries, according to the Mounties, while the three passengers were confirmed dead on the scene.
According to the statement, both speed and alcohol are suspected of contributing to the crash. The BC Coroners Service and Mounties are receiving support from an RCMP Highway Patrol crash reconstruction unit while conducting their investigations.
