Jackmerly Hernandez Rodriguez Obituary, Death; – The family of a woman who was fatally shot in her residence in unincorporated Norcross over the weekend has identified her as Jackmerly Hernandez Rodriguez, the mother of a 10-year-old boy. The incident occurred on Saturday at approximately 7 p.m. at a residence on Creeldale Drive.
“She was happy, had a big heart, and always wore a big smile,” Rosa remarked while describing her sister-in-law, Jackmerly Hernandez Rodriguez. Her family has confirmed that Jackmerly was the victim of the shooting that took place on Saturday night at her home.
FOX 5 Atlanta reporter Eric Mock interviewed Victor, Jackmerly’s brother-in-law, and Rosa, his wife, who assisted with interpretation. The couple requested that only their first names be used and preferred not to show their faces due to the ongoing search for the assailant.
They shared with FOX 5 that Jackmerly had been in the United States since January after emigrating from Venezuela. “She had been here for less than a year. She was very happy and eager to work. She had just purchased her car,” Rosa stated.
The couple expressed their concern for Jackmerly’s 10-year-old son, who is now devastated and traumatized by the loss of his mother. “Yes, the little boy is suffering,” Rosa said. “This is quite difficult for us.”
Investigators from the Gwinnett County Police Department reported that there were several witnesses present in the home during the shooting. On Sunday, they indicated that the incident is believed to be “domestic-related.”
In response to inquiries, the police department informed FOX 5 that detectives have identified the shooter but have yet to make an arrest. They also mentioned, “Warrants for the suspect’s arrest will be issued.”
Rosa and Victor conveyed that their family will face a challenging Christmas as they care for Jackmerly’s orphaned child and navigate the process of repatriating her remains to Venezuela. “Now we have to send her back to Venezuela, and things are really difficult here, especially for her son,” they said.
