Jack Hohwald Obituary, Death; – Authorities have identified the school bus driver from South Jersey who tragically lost his life after being struck by an oncoming school bus in a garage located behind a high school in Burlington County.
According to Maple Shade police, Jack Hohwald, aged 85, was outside his bus on the high school premises when the fatal incident occurred on Tuesday. In response to the tragic event, school officials decided to cancel classes on Wednesday. Hohwald, who was regarded as a “beloved” employee within the district, was hit by another bus driven by a 77-year-old man from Cinnaminson, who is also employed by the district.
“Our thoughts and condolences are with the victim’s family, as well as the Maple Shade School District and the community, which is deeply affected by this incident,” stated Maple Shade Police Chief Christopher Fletcher. “I assure you that a comprehensive investigation will be conducted into this matter.” Maple Shade School District Superintendent Beth Norcia announced that the Burlington County Crisis Response Team and counselors would be available at the school for students and staff throughout the remainder of the week.
