Jaycee Haskell, a vibrant and beloved figure in many people’s lives, was tragically taken from us on Sunday, September 8, 2024, following a devastating car accident.
At the age of 44, Jace was the loving mother of her two sons, Aiden Haskell, 14, and Kash Torres, 12, and deeply adored daughter of Linda Cornell of Bridgeport and Michael Haskell of Bridgeport. His sudden passing is an immeasurable loss to his family, friends and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
To describe Jace as full of life barely scratches the surface of the joy and light he brought to every room he entered. His presence was magnetic, his laugh infectious. It was impossible not to be around him and to be in his boisterous spirit.
Jace had a great ability to laugh with her – her humor was genuine, her jokes often accompanied by her warm gaze to ensure everyone was entertained. Her energetic personality was a constant source of comfort and happiness to those around her, and her absence has left a deep void that is hard to fathom.
The tragedy of losing Jace at such a relatively young age threatens our deepest belief in the natural order of life. We expect the life cycle to follow a predictable path: our children grow up, we grow old, and we, as parents, die before them.
It’s a basic, yet comforting, premise that helps us manage life’s uncertainties. Jace’s untimely death disrupts this expectation and forces us to grapple with a form of loss that defies the natural order and challenges our understanding of justice and reason.
Coming to terms with Jace’s death requires a level of surrender beyond everyday understanding. It forces us to confront the fragility of life and find comfort in any belief or principle that offers us comfort and purpose. For many, this means “letting go and letting God go” or seeking solace in the values and beliefs that guide our existence.
Despite the imperfections inherent in all of our lives, Jayce lived her life with a deep sense of purpose and love. She completely dedicated herself to being the best mother she could be to Aiden and Kashi, and her love for her children was evident in everything she did.
She was also a devoted daughter and loyal friend who always tried to uplift and encourage those around her. Her life was a testament to love and positivity, and she had a remarkable ability to inspire and enrich the lives of others.
Jace’s influence on those around him was profound. His intelligence, humor and charisma made him a cherished friend and companion. She was known for her warmth and thoughtfulness, her capacity for compassion and strength made her tough and tender. His life, though tragically cut short, was a shining example of living with intention and heart. Indeed, his life was well lived.
