Jacabo Hernandez Obituary – A man from Tennessee lost his life and four individuals were wounded in a collision involving two vehicles in Nashville on Thursday evening. The incident took place on July 4, when a Honda CRV and Dodge Ram pickup collided around 7:15 p.m. on Interstate 40 close to the White Bridge Road exit, as reported by the Metro Nashville Police Department.
The driver of the Honda, identified as Jacabo Hernandez, 29 years old from Elm Hill Pike, was thrown out of the vehicle and passed away at the scene, according to the police. The passengers in the Honda, a 28-year-old woman and an 18-month-old boy, suffered injuries that were not life-threatening.
Authorities mentioned that Hernandez was traveling east on I-40 when he lost control of his car due to heavy rain. The Honda struck the center median wall and eventually came to a stop in a driving lane.
Hernandez moved to the back seat to check on the 18-month-old child, who was in a car seat, as per the police report. It was at this moment that the Honda was rear-ended by the pickup truck.
The police stated that Hernandez was thrown out of the back window. The driver of the pickup truck was unharmed, but his passengers, a woman and a 15-year-old boy, sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Authorities attributed the cause of the crash to the Honda’s failure to stay in its lane.
The interstate was reopened shortly before 10 p.m.
