Isya Stanley Obituary – A 17-year-old girl lost her life on Friday night during an incident where shots were fired as police attempted to disband a large gathering in Philadelphia’s Fairmount Park. Law enforcement officers were present at the park around 11 p.m., working to scatter a group of approximately 100 teenagers when gunshots rang out, as reported by 6ABC and NBC10.
Five teenagers sustained gunshot wounds, with one of them, later identified as Isya Stanley by her family, being hit in the chest and right shoulder. She was rushed to a hospital but unfortunately succumbed to her injuries.
The other injured teens were an 18-year-old girl with a gunshot wound to her right leg, a 14-year-old boy shot in the abdomen, a 15-year-old boy with a gunshot wound to his left leg, and another 15-year-old boy shot in the left leg. All of them are currently hospitalized and in stable condition.
“We are unaware of the cause of this shooting. What prompted it. Whether any of these five victims were specifically targeted,” stated Inspector D.F. Pace of the Philadelphia Police Department to NBC10. “We do not have that information at this time. The investigation is still in its early stages.”
As of now, no arrests have been made, according to the police. Stanley’s family mentioned that she had recently graduated from high school and was excited about starting college.
“My daughter was an exceptional individual with a promising future,” expressed her father, Iself Stanley, to NBC10. “I have to face Father’s Day without my daughter. It’s an incredibly painful situation.”
