Institution at Camp Hill, Superintendent Michael Gourley, announced on Tuesday afternoon.
Kevin Beattie was found unresponsive in his cell on July 2, 2024, according to the release.
Gourley explained the following scene that played out next:
“Prison staff immediately responded and provided life-saving measures until Lower Allen EMS arrived and advanced life support measures were continued. Beattie was pronounced dead at 8:16 a.m.”
Beattie had only been housed at SCI Camp Hill since Feb. 3, 2023 for a 22-to 55-year sentence for burglary in Philadelphia, according to Gourley.
His next of kin have been notified. The official cause of death will be determined by the Cumberland County Coroner’s Office. The Pennsylvania State Police are investigating his death, per state policy.
