A police representative reported that a 12-year-old girl was shot in the 4100 block of Keating Drive before 2:30 a.m. on May 31. The child was initially taken to a local hospital and later transferred to a hospital in Birmingham, where she was declared deceased on June 7. No motive or additional information has been disclosed.
A balloon release ceremony was conducted in memory of the victim, India Knight, after her passing. During the event, family members identified her and her mother, Bria Knight, expressed her profound grief, stating, “I never imagined having to live without her.” The balloon release took place at the Chisholm Boys and Girls Club, where India was an active member, serving as a means for her loved ones to cherish her memory.
