With profound sadness and heavy hearts, the SPI community gathered on Friday morning to honor and remember Marie Fuelling, who has transitioned from this earthly life to eternal life in heaven. Marie’s presence at SPI was marked by her infectious smiles, passion for learning, and gentle kindness, which touched the lives of all who knew her.
As stated in Luther’s explanation of baptism, Marie’s baptism signified the drowning of her “Old Adam,” symbolizing her new life of righteousness and purity before God, both during her time on earth and now in eternity. We praise God for granting Marie this new life and rejoice in the promise of eternal salvation through Christ.
Amidst our grief, the love of Jesus was evident at SPI yesterday. Students, parents, pastors, and staff came together to support and care for one another—a beautiful testament to the unity and strength of our community.
Throughout this week, our student body has sung the verse from LSB 474, expressing the eternal hope we have in Jesus Christ: “City of God, Easter forever, Golden Jerusalem, Jesus the Lamb, River of Life, Saints and archangels, Sing with creation to God the I AM! Jesus is risen and we shall arise: Give God the glory! Alleluia!”
May God’s peace and comfort envelop the Fuelling family and the entire SPI community during this time of mourning. Let us find solace in the promise of resurrection and eternal life through our Lord Jesus Christ.
With heartfelt condolences,
