(PINPOINT WEATHER) — Cold, wet, & foggy kick off this Thursday as rain and isolated storms roll through the Carolinas. This is all ahead on a cold front that will keep showers traveling east along I-85 for much of our morning commute.
Look for icy conditions in the mountains to thaw out while wet roadways around our major thoroughfares can present a threat of hydroplaning. Be sure to exercise caution and give yourself some extra time heading out for your morning commute.
Temperatures are in the mid to upper 30s around Uptown and even low 40s east of I-77 and north of I-40! These above-freezing temperatures will help us thaw out in the mountains but still be on the lookout for water on the roadways.
Winds will flow out of the west between 5 and 10 miles per hour Thursday as rain exits the area and clouds make way for some sunshine in the afternoon. Highs will be above normal, making a run for the low to mid-60s through the peak heating hours of the day.
Overnight lows will plummet under mostly clear skies, bottoming out in the low 30s to upper teens heading into Friday. Valentine’s Day will be cool and sunny, only hitting the low 50s through the peak heating hours of the day.
This weekend will be cool to start with Saturday only hitting 50 degrees. Sunday will warm up even more, getting into the mid-60s through the peak heating hours of the day. We’ll see an active and unsettled weekend with storms likely late Saturday and early Sunday.
Look for cooler temperatures and sunny skies to return early next week for President’s Day asthe upper 40s and low 50s settle in for the first half of next week.
