Nashville, Tenn – I24 Accident Today, Crash into Antioch ditch leads to miles-long backup on I-24: Motorists on Interstate 24 experienced significant delays Sunday afternoon following a crash involving a semi-truck near mile marker 58.6 in Antioch.
The incident was reported shortly after 1:30 p.m. on I-24 West, between Haywood Lane and Bell Road. According to the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT), multiple agencies responded to the scene, including TDOT crews, the Nashville Fire Department, and the Metro Nashville Police Department.
As of 2:45 p.m., TDOT’s SmartWay map indicated that the westbound right two lanes and right shoulder were blocked at the crash site. Traffic cameras showed extensive backups, with westbound motorists backed up past mile marker 62.6, and eastbound traffic experiencing delays as far back as mile marker 54.4.
Metro Nashville dispatch confirmed that the driver of the semi-truck was out of the vehicle and walking around after the crash, which involved the truck ending up in a ditch off the side of the interstate. No further details about the crash have been released at this time. Authorities continue to investigate the incident. Drivers are advised to avoid the area if possible or expect delays while traveling through this stretch of I-24.
