I10 Accident Today; A car flips on the I-10 Highrise Bridge in New Orleans, 2 Hospitalized, Police say: A crash involving at least two vehicles caused significant traffic congestion on the westbound lanes of Interstate 10 on the Highrise Bridge heading toward New Orleans on Friday morning, according to the New Orleans Police Department. Officers responded to a call at about 9:22 a.m. near the Louisa exit, where they discovered a white car that had flipped over the median into oncoming traffic near the end of the bridge.
Further east on the bridge, a truck with severe damage was found stopped and facing the opposite direction of traffic flow. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) transported two individuals to the hospital. The extent of their injuries is currently unknown.
The crash resulted in a small portion of both the eastbound and westbound lanes of I-10 near the scene being reduced to two lanes. By around 9 a.m., traffic on the westbound side of the interstate was backed up for miles. The westbound lanes of I-10 near the Louisa exit remain closed as New Orleans police continue to investigate the incident.At this time, it is unclear how many vehicles were involved in the accident.
