Hugh John’s connection to our club runs deep, intertwined with the very roots of its existence. His father, Johnny McConville, stood as one of the founding members, and their home served as the initial gathering place for the club’s meetings. In a gesture of unparalleled generosity, Johnny donated a field for the club’s games in its inaugural year of 1960, a gesture that sustained the club’s growth and development for years to come.
A Life Well-Lived
Hugh John McConville, born on 06.03.24, peacefully passed away at home surrounded by his loving family. He was a dearly beloved husband to Florence and a much-loved father to Ian (Deceased), Brian, Siobhan, and Tracy. His legacy extends through his daughter-in-laws Caroline and Carmel, his son-in-laws Eddie (Deceased), Damien, and Shane, and his grandchildren Christina and her husband David, Shona, Fintan, Rory and his wife Ashling, Connor, and Caoilan. Additionally, he was blessed with a great-grandchild, Hugh.
A Celebration of Life
Hugh John’s memory will be honored during the wake, with visiting times from 12.00 noon to 10.00 pm. The family respectfully requests privacy on the morning of the funeral. His remains will leave his home at 11:30 am for Requiem mass at 12.00 noon on Saturday 9th at Drumgath Chapel, followed by interment in the adjoining cemetery. As we bid farewell to Hugh John, we invoke the words, “On his soul sweet Jesus have Mercy,” praying for his eternal peace and rest.
