Hudson Joseph Meek Obituary, Death; – A teenager from Vestavia Hills tragically lost his life over the weekend after sustaining critical injuries from a fall from a moving vehicle.
The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office has identified the individual as Hudson Joseph Meek, aged 16. The incident occurred at 10:47 p.m. on Thursday in the 1900 block of Canyon Road, which connects U.S. 31 and Columbiana Road.
Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates reported that Hudson suffered blunt force trauma after falling onto the roadway from the vehicle. He was transported to UAB Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased at 7:59 p.m. on Saturday. The Vestavia Hills police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding Hudson’s death, but have yet to issue a public statement regarding the incident.
Hudson and his brother, Tucker Meek, began their acting careers at an early age. The siblings appeared in the Lifetime film “The Santa Con” a decade ago, and their acting pursuits have continued since then. According to the Internet Movie Database (IMDb), Hudson gained recognition for his role as Young Baby in the 2017 film “Baby Driver.” He also featured in “Found” in 2023 and is set to appear in “The School Duel” in 2024.
A recent post on Hudson’s Instagram account expressed, “Our hearts are broken to share that Hudson Meek went home to be with Jesus tonight.” The post continued, “His 16 years on this earth were far too short, but he accomplished so much and significantly impacted everyone he met.”
Details regarding a celebration of Hudson’s life and information on how to contribute to a scholarship in his honor at Vestavia Hills High School will be shared at a later date. Following the accident and his passing, there has been a significant outpouring of support and prayers for the family on social media.
One friend remarked, “You were just a bright light to everyone around you. God shined through you 24/7.” Another friend added, “You were taken way too soon. But I can tell you one thing: the 16 years you spent on earth were everything.
