San Diego, California resident Hosea Smith passed away. On August 25, the legendary Hosea Smith departed from this life. He served as the US Navy’s FORCM and former director of the hospital corps. The news of his passing has devastated his family and community. He battled cancer until his death.
Concerning Hosea Smith
Hosea Smith made such a big difference in so many lives in a number of ways. He took the time to get to know them and inspired them to become better versions of themselves, even though he probably had a lot of people to look after. He was a selfless leader who inspired everyone he trained and guided to rise to the challenge, becoming better as sailors, and, most importantly, become better people. He had high standards for everyone. He was a leader and mentor to a great number of people who served under him, and they all felt incredibly lucky to have known him.
