Gary Charles Laymance, age 67, of Knoxville, TN, formerly of Wartburg, TN, passed away peacefully at his residence on Sunday, January 5, 2025. A retired United States Army veteran, Gary dedicated his life to serving his country and community. He was a proud and active member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), where he served as District Commander, supporting fellow veterans and their families with unwavering dedication.
Gary was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Charles and Shelby Laymance. He is survived by his daughter, Teryn Laymance of Akron, Ohio; his grandchildren, Izyck and Aiyanna Clark of Akron, Ohio; and his siblings, Larry Laymance of Wartburg, TN; Karen (Frank) Seres of Portland, TN; and Jason (DeAnn) Laymance of Lawton, Oklahoma. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and close friends who will forever cherish his memory.
A graveside service will take place at the East Tennessee Veterans Cemetery on Friday, January 17, 2025, at 10:00 AM, where Gary will be honored with full military honors. Gary’s legacy of selflessness, courage, and love will forever remain in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
