Hayley Rolleston Death and Obituary – A small community in the Bay of Plenty, New Zealand, is mourning the tragic death of four-year-old Timothy Tu’uaki Rolleston-Bryan, affectionately known as Timoti. On Friday, March 28, Timoti was tragically mauled by a dog in the town of Katikati, just days after celebrating his fourth birthday. His death has left his family, friends, and the local community in deep sorrow.

The devastating attack occurred at approximately 2:50 pm when Timoti, along with another individual, was bitten by the dog. Emergency services were promptly dispatched, and the boy was rushed to the Katikati Medical Centre, where he was treated for critical injuries. Despite the best efforts of medical staff, Timoti succumbed to his wounds, passing away shortly after the attack. The second victim, who was also bitten, sustained moderate injuries and was treated at the hospital.

The dog involved in the attack was quickly contained by animal management staff, who took control of the animal. The incident has left the community in shock, particularly due to the nature of the attack, and police have confirmed that a full investigation is underway. The dog’s history and the circumstances surrounding the attack will be reviewed, with a report being prepared for the coroner to determine further details.

Timoti’s family and loved ones have described him as a lively, adventurous boy with a mischievous smile and a heart full of love. One relative shared that he was known for his infectious personality and adventurous spirit. Timoti’s energy and enthusiasm for life were evident even at a young age; he was already riding a bike at just one year old and was swimming and diving confidently by the time he turned four. His ability to explore the world with joy and curiosity made him a special presence in the lives of his family.

However, Timoti’s life was already marked by loss. His mother, Hayley Rolleston, tragically passed away in September 2021 when Timoti was only six months old. This loss has added another layer of heartache to an already devastating situation, as many in the family and community now find solace in the idea that Timoti is reunited with his beloved mother. One relative poignantly expressed, “Mummy will be waiting for you, big boy,” while others comforted themselves with the thought that Timoti was now with his mother once more. This bittersweet thought has brought some comfort to the grieving family as they process their loss.

The community of Katikati, and indeed the wider Bay of Plenty region, has rallied around Timoti’s family, offering their condolences and support during this difficult time. Plans are in place for a farewell service at Otawhiwhi Marae, where family and friends will gather to celebrate Timoti’s short but joyful life. The service will provide an opportunity for loved ones to share memories and reflect on the boy’s vibrant personality, mischievous smile, and his zest for life.

As the investigation into the dog attack continues, the family, community, and wider New Zealand will forever remember Timoti for the happiness he brought into the world. His untimely death has left a void in the hearts of all who knew him. His memory will live on through the love he shared, the joy he spread, and the adventures he embarked upon in his brief but full life.
