Harry L Moynihan Death, Obituary – In a surprising turn of events, Harry Lawrence Moynihan, 61, of Selma, Indiana, passed away on August 10, 2024, at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital. Born on May 9, 1963, in Chicago, Illinois, Harry was the cherished son of Leslie John and Wanda Jean Moynihan.
Harry’s early years were spent in Chicago, but he moved to Cedar Lake, Indiana, during his teenage years. He pursued higher education at the University of Chicago, earning his degree in 1985, and went on to obtain his medical degree from the Indiana University School of Medicine in 1991.
Throughout his life, Indiana remained his home. From July 1991 to July 1994, he served as the Chief Resident of Internal Medicine at Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie. He continued his role as Chief Resident for an additional year, from July 1994 to July 1995. Harry dedicated over 33 years to his medical career, treating numerous patients at St. Vincent – Randolph Hospital in Winchester, Indiana, where he spent the majority of his career, and more recently at Reid Internal Medicine Clinic in Richmond, Indiana.
Harry’s life took a significant turn in 1986 when he met Sue at “The Pantry,” a restaurant owned by his parents, Les and Wanda, in Lowell, Indiana. The couple married on June 1, 1991, at St. Edward Catholic Church in Lowell. Sue, along with their six children—Joey, Jamie, Jenny, John, Jake, and Jason—survives him and will fondly remember him.
A member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Muncie, Harry was deeply involved in his community. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leslie John and Wanda Jean (Riggs) Moynihan, and was their only child. Visitation for family and friends will be held at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 West Kilgore Avenue, Muncie, Indiana 47304, on Friday, August 16, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A Mass in Harry’s honor will take place at Saint Mary Catholic Church, 2300 West Jackson Street, Muncie, Indiana 47303, on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at 11:00 a.m.
