Harrell Jackson Jr., a May graduate of Millard West High School and a former state wrestling champion has tragically passed away. He was announced dead by a family member in a statement that read “My heart is heavy and I really don’t have the words. That smile is all I can see. We lost an angel on Earth yesterday, my nephew, Bubby, Harrell Jackson. Forever 18, you are loved by so many.”

The district confirmed that a recent graduate of Millard West High School died in a collision Tuesday morning close to Nebraska City. Around 5:04 a.m., deputies were called to the Otoe County Sheriff’s Office to report a person wandering in the roadway on Highway 2 close to the North Highway 75 intersection.
According to investigators, a car struck the pedestrian while deputies were reacting. The pedestrian, identified as 18-year-old Harrell Jackson Jr., was pronounced dead at the scene despite deputies and Nebraska City Fire & Rescue’s attempts to save his life, according to the Otoe County Sheriff’s Office.
According to investigators, Jackson was struck by a westbound car when he was in the traffic lane on the Highway 2 on-ramp, strolling in the dark and dressed in dark apparel.
