Greg Schindel Death – Today, we mourn the passing of a beloved friend and cherished member of our community, Greg Schindel, known far and wide as the Train Singer®. A Tribute to Greg Schindel
Greg Schindel wasn’t just the Train Singer; he was an artist, a teacher, and a family man whose love for trains and people touched countless hearts. Thirty-two years ago, our paths crossed when Greg gigged with the Skunk Train, enchanting passengers with melodies that celebrated the spirit of the railroad. His songs like “California Western Special” and “Woopie! What a Ride!” became anthems of joy and nostalgia, weaving tales of journeys and the characters he met along the way.
As President & CEO, I had the honor of witnessing Greg’s talent and passion firsthand. From his jovial nature to his knack for storytelling, Greg embodied the essence of camaraderie and warmth. His trademark, the Train Singer®, became not just a name but a symbol of his dedication and creativity. We were fortunate to have him as a friend, not merely an employee, and his presence brightened every encounter with laughter and heartfelt hugs.
To Donna, Heidi, Malaki, his grandchildren, and his entire family, we extend our deepest condolences. Greg’s journey on the rails was a testament to his spirit and his love for life. As we reflect on his life, let us cherish the memories he created and the smiles he brought to so many faces.
