Rachael Lillis, who provided the voices for a wide variety of characters in the world of anime, including Misty, Jessie, Vulpix, Jigglypuff, and Maylene, is currently undergoing treatment at the American Cancer Society. Because of her difficulties with breast cancer, which has gone to her spine and left her with very limited movement, she is reportedly presently residing in a nursing care facility and has been there since January. This is owing to the severity of her condition.

Her sister, Laurie Orr, has started a GoFundMe campaign in an effort to raise money to assist in obtaining home care for her so that she may be discharged from the nursing home. Veronica Taylor, who provided the voice of Ash in its original form, along with a large number of other individuals from the Voice Acting community and from other places, have shown their support for their friend and business associate.
