The news of his passing was confirmed by his family in a heartfelt statement: “R.I.P. Thomas Brückner, better known as Tomcraft, began his illustrious career as a DJ in Munich in 1994, playing a variety of styles, including techno and the burgeoning progressive trance movement. He made his debut as a DJ at the Union Move technoparade in Munich in 1995, where he played his first large concerts. That same year, he released his debut single, “This Is No House.” In 1996, Tomcraft had his first encounter with Eniac, a fellow German producer. The two immediately started collaborating, beginning with the track “Viva.” Later that year, they produced the song “Prosac,” which, though initially not a major hit, was re-released in 2001 and achieved success. Over the course of about ten years, Tomcraft and Eniac released a steady stream of music on various labels, including the local label Kosmo Records.
From the late 1990s until 2003, Tomcraft served as the resident DJ at the techno club KW – Das Heizkraftwerk in Munich. His musical style evolved over the years from trance to electro house, and since 2007, it incorporated a fusion of these influences with a progressive house foundation, reverting back to the melodic sound he was originally known for. Tomcraft has recorded four albums, all published on Kosmo Records: All I Got (2001), MUC (2003), HyperSexyConscious (2006), and For the Queen (2007). His album For the Queen, released in 2007, was a collaboration with Tobias David Lutzenkirchen from their Great Stuff label. This album was distinct in a more narrative way, with less of the dance floor dimension of his previous works. Tomcraft referred to it as a “feature album,” rich with collaborations and two covers.
Thomas Brückner, aka Tomcraft, left an indelible mark on the music industry with his unique blend of techno, trance, electro house, and progressive house. His ability to evolve with the times while staying true to his melodic roots earned him a dedicated fanbase and respect from fellow musicians. His contribution to the dance music scene in Munich and beyond is immeasurable. His role as a resident DJ at KW – Das Heizkraftwerk helped shape the local music scene, and his collaborations with Eniac produced some of the most memorable tracks in electronic music. Tomcraft’s albums showcased his versatility and creativity, pushing the boundaries of electronic music.
