Geraldine Phillips Davis Obituary, Death – On Friday, March 22, 2024, at noon, in the brightness of spring, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, in His boundless wisdom, gently ushered His cherished daughter, Geraldine Phillips Davis, into eternal rest. Originally from Fitzgerald, Georgia, she spent the majority of her adult life in Miami, Florida, until moving back to Warner Robins to be close to her daughter Andresa.
On September 26, 1925, in Fitzgerald, Georgia, she was born into the family of the late Thomas, “Tom,” and Amanda “Mandy” Madison Phillips of Hawkinsville, Georgia. At The Church Home LifeSpring Rehabilitation and Healthcare Community in Fort Valley, Georgia, she departed this life in peace.
Geraldine, who was lovingly referred to as Gerri, was the ninth of twelve children. She had three sisters and eight brothers, two of whom died young. They were residents of Fitzgerald, living on the west side of the town in a white-framed home with an L-shaped front porch. It was the source of all her most treasured early memories.
She liked to play under the large pecan trees that provided shade, laugh, go to church on Sundays and evenings, hear her mother read the Bible every night, and be a part of exciting events like neighbors getting together on the lawn to listen to the radio broadcast of the historic boxing match between Joe Louis and Sonny Liston for the heavyweight championship. Geraldine joined Salem First Missionary Baptist Church in Fitzgerald, Georgia, after becoming a Christian at a young age.
She served the Lord faithfully throughout of her adult life. She continued to be a member of the Glendale Missionary Baptist Church in Miami, Florida. Later, she served in the Caregivers Ministries of First Baptist Church on Garmon Street in Warner Robins, Georgia. She was cordially received as a member of Beulahland Bible Church in Byron, Georgia, where she served in the “Over Fifty Ministries,” in her later years.
