Gerald Pogzeba Obituary, Death; – Authorities have confirmed the identity of a man from Carbon County who lost his life when, according to police reports, his neighbor discharged a firearm through the wall that divides their residences.
Coroner Mark Smith stated that Gerald Pogzeba was declared deceased at approximately 1:50 p.m. on Thursday in the 1600 block of Berwick Street, located in Banks Township.
According to the state police in Carbon County, 25-year-old Dylan Eroh fired a shotgun through the wall of his rowhome, resulting in Pogzeba, aged 69, being struck by the gunfire. Smith indicated that the cause of death was a gunshot wound, and the incident has been classified as a homicide.
Eroh faces charges of homicide, aggravated assault, and discharging a firearm into an occupied structure, all of which are felonies, in addition to misdemeanor charges of simple assault and recklessly endangering another individual.
He has been remanded to Carbon County Prison without the possibility of bail.
