Gerald Miller Obituary, Ravenna- Gerald Robert Miller “Jerry,” who was 75 years old and a native of Ravenna, passed away suddenly on January 15, 2024 at his residence in Simpsonville, South Carolina. Son of Robert Harold Miller and Dorothy Lucille Miller (née Baier), he was born on May 14, 1948. His parents were named Baier. Reading, golfing, and Ohio State football were some of his favorite activities.
After he retired, he pursued his passion for hiking and traveled to some of the most famous trails in the world, such as Machu Picchu and the Camino de Santiago. However, none of these trails could compare to the extensive distances he traveled and the friendships he formed on the North Carolina Appalachian trails that were right in his backyard.
He is survived by his children, Matthew Miller (Erin) of Atlanta, Georgia, Susann Edwards (Shawn) of Washington, District of Columbia, and Emilie Kroner (Kevin) of Cincinnati, Ohio; eight grandchildren that he shared with Marsha Miller, Baikal, Rybolt, Garvin, Robbie, Annie, James, Abby, and Kate; three sisters: Patty Booth (Charlie, dec) of Ravenna, Ohio, Susan Harvey (Michael) of Richmond, Virginia, and Sally Beard (Michael) of Santee, South Carolina; his long-time companion, Anne Pringle Nixon; and a large number of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
On Friday, January 26, 2024, at ten o’clock in the morning, a Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Simpsonville, South Carolina. After that, there will be a memorial service. As an alternative to sending flowers, the family requests that you enjoy some quality time with your own family by going on a hike at the closest trail.
