Georgia Institute Of Technology Alumnus Chris Klaus’ Son, Will Klaus Passes Away
Sadly, Chris Klaus, a Georgia Institute of Technology alumnus, lost his beloved son Will. On Friday, May 3, 2024, a Facebook post announcing his death said, “I share the news of my son Will’s passing with a heavy heart and profound sadness.” I shall therefore be unable to give Georgia Tech’s commencement speech today. As of the time of writing, Will Klaus’s real cause of death was unknown.
Kaneva was founded by the wealthy businessman Christopher Klaus, who also acts as its CEO. Three-dimensional virtual environments are produced by Kaneva.
His business, CyberLaunch, is a startup accelerator dedicated to helping security and machine learning companies expand. He is both one of the company’s founders and partners. In addition, he has a lengthy history with Georgia Tech.
Klaus is currently driving the future of technology at Georgia Tech through his support of CREATE-X, a program that gives students a platform to engage with industry leaders and receive the mentoring, support, and funding required to launch their own firms.
Part of Georgia Tech’s College of Computing, College of Engineering, and allied programs are housed in the three-story, over 400,000-square-foot Christopher W. Klaus Advanced Computing Building.
Klaus made a financial donation in 2000 in response to the need to help sustain the technology revolution. The structure was constructed with the help of this contribution.
Prior to founding Kaneva, Klaus served as the Chief Technology Officer of Internet Security Systems Inc. (ISS), a company he founded in 1994, went public in 1998, and IBM finally acquired in 2006 for a price tag of more than $1.2 billion.
He is one of the members of the state’s Film, Video, and Music Advisory Commission. Klaus is a member of the Georgia Tech Foundation, the Georgia Tech College of Computing, the Georgia Game Developers Association (GGDA), and the Board of Visitors at Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD).
