Garrett Frey Motorcycle Accident – On April 24, 1987, I was in a motorcycle accident that left me with a C4-C5 spinal cord injury, quadriplegia, and dependence on a ventilator. I was almost 5 years old at the time and I don’t remember anything about the accident, but my family has told me what happened.
About Garrett Frey;
After the accident, a whole new life awaited me. I had to re-learn, re-discover, and re-create myself into the person I am today. I strive to do my best every day. I am the co-author of “As I Am” and the illustrator of “Benny and the Butterfly”. I am optimistic about the future and look forward to what lies ahead. Although life presents challenges, I always look for the next one to tackle.
My mental strength, willpower, and the many blessings I’ve received over the years, including the support of my family, friends, and loved ones, are what motivate me to get out of bed every day. Life throws unfortunate circumstances at us, and for me, it’s about overcoming the challenges that many find difficult. We all have to recognize our strengths. My dreams and goals are to help others in any way possible.
Even as one person, I believe I can make a difference. It’s a lot about what you believe you can do. Focus on what truly matters. Remember the good times and memories in your life. Focus on yourself and embrace the power to help others. By focusing on others, you can potentially gain more knowledge about yourself.
Your attitude can shape your day. Being kind to yourself can impact how you treat others. It took me many years to learn from and listen to others. I hope that by sharing my story, I can positively impact others. It’s about never giving up. We all need to have the attitude and determination to live our lives to the fullest. We are all capable of overcoming obstacles… one second, one minute, one hour, one day at a time.
