Gabriela Difo,Florinda Tineo Obituary, Death;- Authorities have confirmed the identities of the four individuals who lost their lives in a multi-vehicle accident in Newington on Saturday.
Firefighters reported that the incident occurred at the intersection of Willard Avenue and Greenlawn Avenue around 9 a.m. According to police, the crash involved three vehicles, resulting in four fatalities.
The deceased have been identified as 17-year-old Gabriela Difo from Newington; 50-year-old Florinda Tineo, also from Newington; 48-year-old Jeannette Tineo, a resident of Newington; and 56-year-old Maritza Smith from New Britain.
The Superintendent of Newington Public Schools stated that Gabriela Difo was a senior at Newington High School. The district confirmed that Florinda Tineo was Gabriela’s mother and Jeannette Tineo was her aunt. In response to the tragedy, the school district announced that crisis support services will be available on Monday for staff and students affected by the incident.
A fifth individual involved in the crash sustained minor injuries. Willard Avenue was closed for several hours between Robbins Avenue and Wilson Avenue but has since been reopened.
