Fred Mitchell Obituary, Death; – A Denton County Commissioner is currently hospitalized, while her husband has died following a stabbing incident allegedly involving their grandson, according to Lewisville police on Monday.
Officers from the Lewisville Police Department responded to a residence on Springwood Drive near Elmwood Drive shortly before 4 a.m. on Monday. Upon arrival, they discovered that both Bobbie J. Mitchell and Fred Mitchell had sustained stab wounds.
The suspect has been identified as 23-year-old Mitchell Reinacher, the grandson of the victims. He was apprehended at the scene without resistance.
Paramedics transported the Mitchells to local hospitals, where Fred Mitchell was pronounced dead. Bobbie Mitchell is reported to be in stable condition and has survived the attack, as stated by the police.
Reinacher is currently held at the Lewisville Jail, facing charges of murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Authorities have not disclosed the circumstances leading up to the stabbing.
Bobbie Mitchell has been a member of the Denton County Commission since 2000. Prior to this role, she served as the mayor of Lewisville from 1993 to 2000, making history as the first Black individual to hold that position. According to her biography on the Denton County website, the couple has nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
