Frank Tandoh,Ashton Faircloth GENERAL; – Virginia State Police (VSP) have released the identities of the individuals involved in a collision between two vehicles, including a tractor-trailer. The incident occurred on Thursday at approximately 6:24 p.m. on Interstate 95, close to the 127 mile-marker.
According to VSP, the operator of a 1997 Lexus ES300 was heading southbound when he attempted to maneuver around slower traffic. This action resulted in the driver losing control of the Lexus, which subsequently collided with a Kenworth tractor-trailer.
Following the impact, the tractor-trailer veered off the right side of the roadway and struck several trees. The Lexus driver has been identified as 18-year-old Ashton Faircloth, who was transported to the hospital with serious, yet non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the tractor-trailer, 43-year-old Frank Tandoh, was airlifted to VCU Health with injuries that are considered life-threatening. Faircloth has been charged with reckless driving and failure to maintain proper control of his vehicle. The investigation into the crash by VSP is ongoing.
