Frank Patterson, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and respected member of his community, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2024, in Toronto, Canada, at the age of 79. Born on October 3, 1944, in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Frank lived a life filled with love, dedication, and service to others.
Frank was a proud graduate of Dalhousie University, where he earned a degree in Business Administration. His career spanned over four decades in the banking industry, where he held various leadership roles that earned him the respect and admiration of colleagues across the country. Frank was known for his integrity, strong work ethic, and commitment to mentoring young professionals. He retired as a senior executive, leaving behind a legacy of innovation and positive change within the industry.
Outside of his professional life, Frank was deeply committed to his family. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Evelyn, for over 50 years, and together they built a life full of love and happiness. Frank was a proud father to his two children, Andrew and Emily, and an adoring grandfather to his four grandchildren. He took immense joy in family gatherings, often sharing stories from his youth and offering wisdom and guidance to the younger generations.
Frank was also an active member of his community, volunteering his time with several local organizations, including the Rotary Club and various charitable foundations. His passion for giving back was evident in everything he did, and he was always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. Frank’s warm smile, gentle demeanor, and generous spirit made him a cherished friend and neighbor to many.
In his free time, Frank enjoyed spending summers at the family cottage in the Muskoka region, where he loved fishing, boating, and simply enjoying the beauty of nature. He was an avid reader and had a particular interest in Canadian history, often sharing fascinating insights with anyone willing to listen.
Frank is survived by his wife, Evelyn Patterson; his children, Andrew Patterson (Laura) of Vancouver, and Emily Johnson (Michael) of Toronto; his grandchildren, Sophie, Liam, Olivia, and Jacob; his brother, Thomas Patterson of Halifax; and many extended family members and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Margaret Patterson, and his sister, Helen Patterson.
A memorial service to celebrate Frank’s life will be held on September 9, 2024, at 2:00 PM at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Toronto. The family will receive friends during a reception following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation in Frank’s memory.
