New York — A former aide to New York Gov. Kathy Hochul was arrested by the FBI early Tuesday, the FBI confirmed.
Linda Sun, the former deputy chief of staff, was arrested along with her husband, Chris Hus, the FBI said.
It happened Tuesday morning in Manhasset on Long Island.
The exact allegation is under seal in the indictment.
Sun and Hu are expected to be arraigned in Brooklyn on Tuesday afternoon.
The Sun’s Long Island home was searched back in JulyHowever, the reason for the search was not disclosed.
Sources told CBS News New York that Sun has held several positions in state government since 2012.
Sources familiar with the case said evidence of wrongdoing was discovered in 2023 when Sun was working for the state Department of Labor.
This evidence was handed over to law enforcement.
“This individual was hired by the executive branch more than a decade ago. We terminated his employment in March 2023 after we discovered evidence of misconduct, immediately reported his actions to law enforcement, and assisted law enforcement throughout this process,” Hochul’s press secretary Avi Small said. said.
