An elderly woman lost her life after being struck by a vehicle early Wednesday morning at the intersection of Sherlock and Kimball Drives near Coyote Creek, according to San Jose police.
The incident occurred one block east of Stonegate Park and near the northwestern edge of Los Lagos Golf Course.The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Florence Taylor.
Preliminary reports indicate that a black 2004 GMC SUV was traveling north on Sherlock Drive around 6:34 a.m. when it struck Taylor, 86, as she was crossing the street at the intersection with Kimball Drive. She was transported to a hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries. Police confirmed that the driver remained at the scene.
As the investigation continues, Taylor’s family may have grounds for a wrongful death claim due to their loss.
