Fire Outbreak-Woman Killed 10-Unit Apartment Building in U.P. Destroyed; MI – IRON MOUNTAIN — One victim lost her life and numerous others were relocated due to a large fire at an apartment complex on fire night. Around 10:53 p.m., the Iron Mountain Fire Department reports that it was called to 630 East H St. in reference to a building fire.
As soon as they arrived, workers launched a “aggressive offensive attack” in an effort to put out the fire and locate any fatalities. An hour later, workers were allowed to enter the structure and start examining the land. Not long after they did, they discovered the body of a woman, 46, who had perished in the fire. The victim’s identification has not yet been made public.
A number of further residents of the ten-unit apartment complex sustained injuries in the fire, although they are thought to have only had minor wounds. When firefighters managed to extinguish the fire, the structure was declared completely destroyed.
The Michigan State Police, the Iron Mountain Fire Department, and the Iron Mountain Police Department are all involved in an ongoing investigation.
