Fabian Vitolas Obituary, Death; – Authorities have confirmed the death of one individual and injuries to two others following a two-vehicle collision that occurred on Saturday night in southern Lubbock County.
Fabian Vitolas, a 36-year-old resident of New Home, was declared deceased at the crash site, which was reported at 9:35 p.m. on U.S. Highway 87 near County Road 7150, as stated by the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Preliminary investigations suggest that Vitolas was operating a 2005 Chevrolet Avalanche westbound on County Road 7150 when he failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection with U.S. 87, subsequently entering the highway. A northbound 2017 Dodge Durango collided with the driver’s side of the Avalanche.
Amanda Rodriguez, the 40-year-old driver of the Durango from Lubbock, was wearing her seatbelt and sustained minor injuries. She was transported to University Medical Center for medical attention.
The passenger in the Avalanche, 22-year-old Christopher Dunn from Carlsbad, New Mexico, sustained serious injuries and was also taken to UMC. He was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the incident. The investigation is ongoing, and additional factors contributing to the crash have yet to be determined.
