Evelyn Diment Obituary – The incident on the Gold Star Bridge in Groton on Friday resulted in the tragic death of a woman who was seated in the back of a disabled vehicle. The Ford Edge, driven by a 52-year-old man from Indiana, experienced a mechanical failure near the exit 83 on-ramp around 6:40 p.m. The vehicle came to a stop within the southbound lanes of the bridge.
Subsequently, an armored vehicle collided with the back of the disabled Ford Edge. The driver and a 54-year-old female passenger in the front seat sustained minor injuries and were taken to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital. Unfortunately, a 76-year-old woman seated in the back of the Ford Edge suffered serious injuries and was transported to the hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
The deceased was identified as Evelyn Diment from Indiana. The driver of the armored vehicle also sustained minor injuries. The authorities are currently investigating the crash and urge anyone with information or who witnessed the incident to contact Trooper Christopher Brett at (860) 848-6540.
