Estil Hurt Death – The passing of Estil Guy Hurt, who was 78 years old and lived in the Red Root Ridge neighborhood of Raven, Virginia, took place on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at the Pikeville Medical Center in Pikeville, Kentucky. He was the son of Fred Hurt, who passed away, and Edie Victoria Osborne Hurt, who also passed away. He was born on November 1, 1945 in Buchanan County, Virginia. Fishing, riding motorbikes, four-wheeling, and listening to the telephone were some of his favorite activities. He had lived in this region his whole life.
One of his granddaughters, Tara Dougherty, as well as one of his great-grandsons, Kaiden Brinn, and one of his son-in-laws, Richard Johnson, as well as three of his brothers, Massie Short, Danie Osborne, and James Davis, and one of his half-brothers, Clay Hurt, passed away before him. Survivors include four daughters, Lisa Hurt, Lora Shelton and husband, Eddie and Michelle Kennedy and husband, Jake all of Raven, Virginia and Linda Johnson of Richlands, Virginia; grandchildren, Josh Rose, Eric Rose.
Carrie Keen, Jamie Sisk, Cody Kennedy, Marvin Shelton and Denise Cordova; one brother, Jessie Osborne; special nephew, Raymond; special friends, Sylvia and Shirley; fourteen great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. It is with great gratitude that the family would like to express their gratitude to the personnel at Pikeville Medical Center, particularly Elaine and Logan, as well as the team at Buchanan General Hospital, particularly the nursing aide, Lena.
On Saturday, at eleven o’clock in the morning, funeral services will be held in the chapel of the Honaker Funeral Home, with the Reverend Lawrence Cantrell serving as the officiant. Next, the burial will take place in the Osborne Cemetery, which is located on Osborne Mountain. There will be pallbearers consisting of friends and family members. After 6 o’clock on Friday evening, the family will be present at the Honaker Funeral Home to greet guests.
