Erika Newvill Obituary, Death; – Authorities have confirmed the identity of a pedestrian who was tragically struck and killed by a vehicle in Massachusetts on Tuesday night. The victim, 23-year-old Erika Newvill from Haverhill, was hit in Methuen around 7:10 p.m., as reported by the Office of the Essex County District Attorney.
The driver of a 2014 Honda CRV was traveling along Merrimack Street (Route 110) when the vehicle collided with Newvill near 301 Merrimack Street. The Methuen Police Department arrived at the scene, and Newvill was subsequently taken to Lawrence General Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Newvill was engaged and a mother of four. A vigil was held in her memory on Wednesday, drawing a significant crowd that reflected the impact she had on those around her and the profound loss felt by her community.
The incident is currently under investigation by the Methuen Police Department, the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, and the Massachusetts Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. It is suspected that poor lighting may have contributed to the accident.
