Emmanuel M Easley Obituary, Death; – The Metro Nashville Police Department has disclosed the identity of the driver involved in a robbery at Green Hills Mall, which escalated into a shooting and a crash that resulted in the closure of Interstate 65 for a significant duration on Tuesday afternoon.
According to MNPD, 30-year-old Emmanuel M. Easley was operating the Tesla during the incident that extended from the mall to I-65 in Berry Hill. On Tuesday evening, MNPD announced that 30-year-old Omari Moore has been charged with aggravated robbery and unlawful possession of a firearm by a convicted felon in relation to the case.
The investigation by MNPD indicates that an unidentified shopper, who was carrying Louis Vuitton bags, was approaching his vehicle in the parking lot when he was noticed by Moore and Easley. Moore exited the vehicle, reportedly brandishing a pistol with an extended magazine. He then forcibly took the shopper’s bags and returned to the Tesla, where he entered the passenger seat. The shopper pursued them as they drove away and seemingly threw the extended magazine at the vehicle. Police later recovered this magazine along with two spent shell casings from the parking lot.
Shortly thereafter, Easley lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a tree on the I-65 North entrance ramp from Interstate 440. Following the crash, Moore exited the vehicle and approached a nearby guardrail, where officers subsequently found a pistol that was missing its magazine.
Authorities reported that Moore claimed he was unaware of how or when the driver was shot. Detectives continue to seek the identification of the robbery victim and are encouraging him to come forward for an interview.
MNPD noted that Omari Moore was previously convicted in Nashville for burglary and felony theft in 2022, receiving a two-year sentence. He also has prior convictions for felony theft and evading arrest in Henderson County.
